Abstract
Dieser Aufsatz, der zuerst 2002 in der Zeitschrift "KAS-Auslandsinformationen" erschienen ist, befasst sich mit der Parlamentswahl im Dezember 2001 in Sri Lanka. Dabei zwang ein Sieg der Oppositionsparteien die damals amtierende Präsidentin Chandrika Kumaratunga dazu, ihren Widersacher Ranil Wickremesinghe mit der Bildung einer Regierung zu beauftragen. Schwerpunkte der Arbeit der neuen Regierung sollte damals Stabilisierung der Wirtschaft des Landes vor allem die Lösung der seit Jahrzehnten schwelenden ethnischen Konflikte sein.
Translation of abstract (English)
The essay, which was firstly published 2002 in the journal "KAS-Auslandsinformationen", deals with the Sri Lankan general election in 2001. After the victory of the opposition parties the president Chandrika Kumaratunge had to assign the leader of the opposition and her antagonist Ranil Wickremesinghe to form the new government.
