Abstract
This periodical began in August 1856 and mainly dealt with education and religion. Reverend Lalbehari De, the editor of the periodical, was one of the first prominent converts to Christianity. Lalbehari published Arunodaya to teach and propagate the “excellence” of the Christian system of education and religion to those who did not know English. Another interesting aspect of this periodical is its stand on the rebellion of 1857 which it considered as a threat against Christianity as well as “peace” and “justice”. It continued for six years.
