Abstract
Der seit Ende Juni 2016 amtierende 16. Präsident der Philippinen, Rodrigo R. Duterte, polarisiert die Gesellschaft des Inselstaates wie kein*e Politiker*in vor ihm. Für seine Anhänger*innen ist »Rody« oder »Digong«, wie er von ihnen liebevoll genannt wird, auch nach knapp zweijähriger Amtszeit noch immer ein »langersehnter Messias«. Seine Gegner*innen und Kritiker*innen sehen in ihm indes einen mit hoher krimineller Energie aufgeladenen »Macho-Faschisten« oder einen »Soziopathen«.
