Abstract
Am 11. Mai 2013 fanden in Pakistan Parlamentswahlen statt, die eine bedeutende Zäsur in der Geschichte dieses krisengeplagten Landes darstellen: Zum ersten Mal seit der Unabhängigkeit Pakistans 1947 wurde eine demokratisch legitimierte, zivile Regierung nach Ablauf einer vollen Legislaturperiode durch weitgehend freie und gleiche Wahlen abgelöst. Dieser reguläre, friedliche Machtwechsel gemäß den Spielregeln einer parlamentarischen Demokratie ist eine für Pakistan völlig neue Erfahrung.
