Abstract
In the article the author gives a short overview about the development and the foundations of Sikhism. The article, which was originally prepared for Microsoft Encarta, appeared in 1996. However as a result of protests organized through Khalsanet, Microsoft headquarters in Seattle (which found itself bombarded with emails) removed this article from the next edition.
