Abstract

Der Archäologe Paul Yule befasst sich in diesem Aufsatz mit einem Fund während der Ausgrabungen in Chandhu daro in den 1930er Jahren unter der Leitung von E. J. H. Mackay. Dabei handelt es sich um ein Metallwerkzeug, welches von Paul Yule als eine Art Spitzeisen identifiziert wurde. Die Ausgrabung eines solchen Gegenstands macht deutlich, wie weit die technischen Fähigkeiten der Harappakultur bereits entwickelt waren.

Translation of abstract (English)

In his essay the archaeologist Paul Yule deals with a metallic find during the excavations at the site of Chandhu daro directed by E. J. H. Mackay in the 1930s. The author identifies the find as a so-called snarling iron. The re-discovery and recognition of a snarling iron, a delightfully named metal-workers’ tool, adds another aspect to knowledge of Harappan technical skills.
