Abstract

Dieser Aufsatz befasst sich damit, wie die Tamilen in Deutschland die Ausübung ihres hinduistischen Glaubens praktizieren. Schwerpunkt der Darstellung liegt dabei auf zwei rituellen Gelübden während religiöser Handlungen zur Anbetung hinduistischer Götter. Dabei zeigt der Autor eindrucksvoll, dass es in der neuen Lebenswelt auch zur Veränderung von rituellen Handlungen kommt. Der Aufsatz basiert auf einen Vortrag, den der Autor 2000 während der 18. Konferenz der International Association for the History of Religions in Durban im Panel "Sacred Promises: Dynamics of Lay Religious Vows" hielt. Ein veränderter Artikel zu diesem Thema erschien 2006 in dem Buch Dealing with Deities: Ritual vows in South Asia, herausgegeben von Selva J. Raj und William P. Harman.

Translation of abstract (English)

The paper deals with Tamil people in Germany and the way they practice their Hindu religion. The author explains the change of two Hindu rituals in the new German environment. Martin Baumann presented this paper during the 18th conference of the International Association for the History of Religions in Durban, South Africa (06. - 11. August 2000) at the Panel on Sacred Promises: Dynamics of Lay Religious Vows. A modified article was published in Dealing with Deities: The ritual vows in South Asia, edited in 2006 by Selva J. Raj and William P. Harman.
