Abstract

Publication of the periodical was irregular and began in 1874. Eleven volumes were published till the end of 1888 when it started publishing again as Bandhaba Nabaparyay (new series) from 1902. The publication of Bandhaba was inspired by Bangadarshana, a monthly from Calcutta edited by Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay. This periodical contains some important articles on social, political and moral issues. Though this periodical was published for about 32 years, its publication was interrupted from time to time, e.g. 11 volumes were published between 1874 and 1888. then its publication ceased for 13 years, again it started publishing as 'new series' from 1901 and went on for five years.
