Abstract

Giriscandra Sen of Bharatbarsiya Brahmo Samaj took the initiative to publish this monthly periodical for women in 1878. The aim was to 'educate' the Bengali women in scientific methods of child rearing and house-keeping. From its 15th year the editorial responsibility was transferred to the Arya Nari Samaj and Mohini Debi, daughter in law of Keshabchandra Sen, became its editor. This periodical continued for twenty eight years.
